Lush Halloween 2022 Haul: Bath Bombs and Bubbles and Slime, Oh My!

We love a bit of Lush in this house and it's been an age since I've bought anything from them, so I figured it was high time I did a well-deserved haul and treated myself and Jackson to some things from their Halloween range.
Along with enjoying a spook-based treat there was also a slight ulterior motive behind this one.
As some of you know my boy is quirky to say the least. He loves routine, he's very specific in his interests and he is prone to meltdowns at random. His latest subject of ire is bath time. As recently as August he couldn't get enough of it, but the last six weeks I've been awaiting police visits every time he's dunked as I'm sure the neighbours must hear his blood-curdling screams and think I'm trying to off him. I'm very much not, but he very much needs to not resemble a gutter troll, and I'm trying everything I can to help him find enjoyment in bath time once more.
For Jackson I got the Alien bubble bar, the I Want My Mummy bath bomb and the Sparkly Pumpkin shower slime.
My boy loves slime and I think this orange offering may be the key to him becoming tolerant of the tub once more. I'm not sure if it'll lather or be a simply creamy clean but it smells citrussy and has a magical sheen that I hope will pique his interest. At the very least if he drops it in the bathroom it'll be an easy cleanup, unlike the massive dollop of actual slime stuck in his bedroom carpet that I'm currently waiting on drying out!
Let me tell you something about Alien: it is massive so it'll last for ages! It'll allow Jackson to break off chunks to crumble under the tap and create his own bubbles; what four-year-old doesn't love bubbles? The more the merrier! My hope is that by allowing him to be interactive with his own bath creation he'll be lured into realising it's quite an alright place to be and somewhere he can have fun doing some scrub-a-dub-dubs.
Lastly for Jackson I bought I Want My Mummy just because. From the description it sounded lovely - soft, milky and caramel-scented - so I got it for him as one to use when the night is drawn and he's having a soak and a chill at the end of the week. Since Jackson was about six months I've been getting him the Ickle Baby Bot bomb, he's had Butterbears in a variety of Christmas boxes, and I Want My Mummy seems like a cute and spooky version of a little person's bath bomb for him to enjoy.
Encouraging Jackson to find joy and comfort in bathing is the ultimate aim here, and I have faith that he'll come round again, not least because he's been through an anti-bath phase more than once in his life already...but why not have a little Halloween-themed fun along the way?
In terms of myself the choices were much more direct; what looks fun and smells great?
Screamo was a must because I have an unhealthy obsession with all things Ghostface and this is unfortunately the closest I'll get to sharing a bath with him. A cherry-almond scent sounds absolutely delicious, albeit completely removed from the kind of scent I'd usually go for, so I'm really looking forward to this one and coming out of the water smelling like a Mr Kipling Bakewell is something I'm fully on board with!
Halloween wouldn't be Halloween without pumpkins, so for that reason alone I had to get the Punkin Pumpkin bath bomb. I love citrus in bath and shower products so I'm looking forward to having a stew in this and using the Blood Orange shower gel for a double whammy of orange-coloured citrusy-scented goodness. Every shower gel I've tried from Lush has been lovely so I'm sure this one will follow suit; they're all beautifully lathery and my body actually feels hydrated and soft, which is particularly nice considering my skin hates living in a hard water area.
Ghost in the Dark (soap) and Ghostie (bath bomb) are a frivolous pair simply bought because my brain told me "Hey, it's a Lush Halloween haul, buy the ghosts!" You'll be surprised to learn that Ghostie is once again a citrus-scented offering, while Ghost in the Dark has one of my all-time favourite scents in the form of bergamot. Having a solid soap means the spooky spectre will linger and be used well past Halloween because ghosts are for life not just October.

Buying Lush Halloween products used to be something I looked forward to every year; this is the first time since 2019 that I've bought anything from the collection and I'm eager to work my way through the bits that I got. It may sound silly but I still find Halloween so exciting! This just adds another element to that for me and I find it beyond adorable that Jackson loves all things Halloween, ghosty, spooky and witchy too.
Trick or treat, motherfucker!
